I would like to use Alan's "Shameless Bump" to express to the mods that this thread needs to be a sticky
Don't make us start whining!

Alan, you are a dream! My hubby has been mentioning x kilts and I am new to kilt making. I had no idea what he wanted, now I do. I am headed out tomorrow to get his material. I am so excited that you guys have posted so much about it. Hopefully I can get this done in a few days and will post some pics of my first ever kilt on a happy man. lol!
Thanks everyone!

I like to make things so I will add this to my list. Of course most of what I make is made out of plywood. I will just remind myself this is REALY THIN plywood.

I wrote it in Guy-speak for guys who can use framing squares and a tape measure to make straight lines on pieces of plywood and then cut plywood on the straight lines. I use a minimum of "sewing lingo", though you get kind of an introduction to it.
Exactly, this is just REALLY thin plywood, and you're using a new power tool called a sewing machine instead of a circular saw.

I got our fabric, a nice khaki canvas and a camo flannel for a "lounge pant" kilt. after reading the manuals section on canvas, I am left wondering....where do i find a cement mixer on easter sunday? my hubby and I have had a few good laughs in translating the manual from guy speak to woman directions. and p.s. target has a line of fabric softener that doesn't reek of perfume. lol
