Over here, where La Fiesta de los Vaqueros (Rodeo Days) is a four-day holiday weekend, it helps to have a bit of an explanation.
Me, I still enjoy a sharp suit as well as the kilt. Of course, I don't wear either frequently enough....

Rocky, while I see your point about b-days of somebody none of us even know being on the calendar & in the way of other events, I would still like a way to keep track of b-days because there are some I definitely do not want to miss. When it is one I have a personal interest in I even like beating the admin's to the punch. I wonder if there is a happy middle ground.

I don't think you're going to need to be up very early to beat Highlandtide and myself to much of anything.
I wonder if there is a happy middle ground.
There are two calendars, events on one and birthdays on the other.

The calendar is much more effective as a community tool without all the Birthdays included. I'd much prefer to see the kilt nights and highland games than anything else. Surely the CZ Mods could be equipped to run some basic query searches on the database to get the CZ material they need.
Rankings could be based mainly on seniority with a Moderator Over-ride to allow for members who really "know-there stuff" or are contributing great input to the forum.
Nothing makes me go "What the... ?" more than someone with a post count of over 1000 asking "Can I wear any tartan?" or "has anyone seen Stillwater Kilts Nightstalker tartan?"
This will:
1 - reduce the newbie flooding the forum with un-informative posts and encourage them to spend their time learning.
2 - encourage the use of the search function
3 - Better identify those who are reliable resources for information.
Yes, there will be those who after 7 years have little to say but odds are they won't be around in 7 years.
