Thinking that either Vancouver, BC, or somewhere in either Oregon or Washington state... Air travel is more of a hassle for me than it's worth, and, since I'm in between jobs, the financial situation isn't so great currently. Hopefully will be better later this coming year, though.

Annual Gathering
Another idea, I understand the "non-kilt friendly city" idea, but if we're going to get together why spend the time marching down the street, etc. Why not pick one of the major highland games, (well in advance,) and meet there, (a different venue each year.) It would be a great opportunity to go to another games and there'd be plenty to do and see kilt-related and otherwise. I like the idea of doing it across the pond every other year, but realisticly that may be pie in the sky. Doing it every year may insure that it continues. Just my humble opinion.
Respectfully,
David

Annual Kilt Event
I like the highland game idea. The one at Fergus is largest and close to Toronto. Will need to rent a car or make arrangements with an Ontario forum member. This could reduce and simplify the event planning. There are small cities near Fergus that have good accomodation such as Guelph and Kitchener
as well as Stratford and Fergus also.

Toronto - I've never been there and I've heard you can get great SOKS there. Plus, with Grant as organizer we know we won't have to worry about kilt checks.
Convener, Georgia Chapter, House of Gordon (Boss H.O.G.)
Where 4 Scotsmen gather there'll usually be a fifth.

Gathering
My take.......
Chicago, Illinois - could be fun, are there games there?
Atlanta, Georgia - Stone Mountain Games in October.
Toronto, Ontario - Would love to go to Canada again.
Houston, Texas - THE MOST humid place on the face of the earth
Vancouver, BC - Planning to go there anyway, would be great
San Francisco, California - not so much.
Denver, Colorado - Estes is great, so I'm told, would love to.
Washington, DC - Too many other things I'd want to do while I was there
Boston, Massachusetts - Too many other things I'd want to do while I was there.
Fort Lauderdale, Florida - Just not what I think of when I think of kilting.

Make sure to let us know when and we'll see what can be put together locally.
Who voted for bloody Toronto!?!?! Great let's all go watch the Leafs suck!
I'm kidding of course...... I would never go to a Leafs game.
Seriously I would try and head out to party with Pete and the boys in TO. Some of the Vancouver locals can teach Grant the sure fire ways to get kiltchecked.

I voted for the T.O. Ya it's close, that's why. But there is a ton of stuff to do there, The ROM, Tons of other museums (I remember McMurdo going to a military museum that featured a kilted regiment),concerts, sports (Go TFC),The CN tower, the theater district, the fashion district, shopping (tons of cool little stores on Queen's Street)the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle collection in one of Toronto's largest libraries. If I do remember correctly there is a nice Robbie Burns statue in town as well.
I am sure the organizers (Grant I am looking at you...) could even persuade a member of the Scottish Studies department of Guelph to come on up and speak. (I know a few of them are from Toronto)
Could be fun..

Oh ya, there are a TON of neat BARS there too..
