Same here (although I do wear it around him occasionally anyways)

Oh, I also forgot it was July 4th until I was already out... which sucks because I was really hyped to wear a kilt today. I wanted to wear it because I feel it is a very American thing to do (y'know, that whole Freedom deal all us Americans get so excited about) and if I had thought about it I'd've been rockin' my UK tan Survival and maybe some old school white athletic socks with blue stripes at the top, and I have a blue+white shirt that I ended up wearing anyways. No, it would not necessarily have been good looking, but it sure would have been American :mrgreen:

I even got my brother to wear his x-kilt that I made for him. It was a good kilt day on my block.

Went to a local 4th of July parade, then to Louisville Riverpark and afterwards to the store in my newly arrived SWK BlackWatch.

Few stares, lots of eye contact/nods and tons of patriotic fun!

Too late for this year, but just an observation: In May at the Highland Games here in Houston, the sun came out on Sunday and was baking me to a crisp. I was wearing shorts so that I could show my Black Watch kilt to someone thinking about buying a kilt. After he got a good look at it, I pulled it on over the shorts, dropped them, and become a 100% more comfortable just in time to set a good kilt-wearing example for the participants in the Children's Games. Catch the breeze, bro!

Here, wore my MacKenzie Modern 18 oz military-weight 9-yarder with a Hard Rock Cafe t-shirt, and some black/gray argyle socks (no, not wool ones), and my hiking boots. Wore that to the hardware store for a replacement hammer - dog decided to chew on the old one and broke the hickory handle on it - and to the grocery store. When I got home, I was beginning to overheat, so threw on a pair of shorts for the rest of the evening. Would've worn a lighter weight kilt, except that my Lennox needs repair - kinda destroyed the hip buckle when I got caught on a gas pump yesterday (7/3), while filling up my car @ Costco. Might remove the third strap and buckle altogether...

Holidays are big concert days for me and considering that there is no documentation for a mid-19th C itinerant banjo player wearing kilts in New England, I was required by history and custom to resort to the usual trouser, waistcoat, and sack coat cobination that served as American high fashion in 1855. Gotta pay those bills! Rest assured that I spent the morning "en kilt" as I usually do.

Actually, the "Balmoral" craze had some currency here in the states and as soon as I find the right documentation........!
