My hearing is such that I don't hear it go off if there is any ambient background noise such as a crowd. So I set it on vibrate, and use a clip-on carrier. I clip it on the under apron against me. I can now feel it go off. Since it is the same level as a belt, I assume that there is no real danger.

When I lost my job I lost my cell phone, too. I am in no hurry to replace the phone. I can't even take one into the building on my new job and the time spent driving is my quiet time. People can reach me the old fashioned way. Leave a message and I will call you back. The aluminum foil thing does not work anyway, I still hear the voices without lining my hats with foil.

bad vibes?
I dunno, I've worked almost directly under radio towers for 32 years and have no health issues.
...Except for a third eye...
...and bad hearing from 32 years of rock and roll in my headphones

<< That (video) is too funny. >>
Sadly, it is a rare occasion when I do not hear a cellphone ring when waiting to pipe at graveside.
Someone talking on a cellphone is virtually 100%.

Aging olde geezer that I am I still prefer the phones with wires. Mine seldom rings and when it does its usually a robodialer. So no need, and therefore no risk, for cellphones.
I seldom have a client in therapy anymore that their cell phone doesn't ring and they interrupt to check it, or even take the call. Its their time so I just wait it out.
I do have to admit I've developed a very nasty habit around cell phones. Every time I pass an oncoming driver yacking away on a cell phone I toot my car horn ever so briefly as we pass. Hardly ever fail to get a flinch, and hopefully a brief return to reality from the other driver.
Gratefully, my kilt hose, sporran, belt, vest pockets et.al. remain unencumbered by a wireless yacking device.
And, whenever I try to call someone on their cell phone they are out of minutes or not taking messages. If I do manage to get through the reception is very poor around here...still struggle to figure out why folks pay so much every month for devices that just don't work well - if at all.
But, I'm olde....

Much ado about nothing. But it has generated a lively discussion.
Aye! on both counts.

Don't think it's a problem unless you leave it on vibrate!
