First one is a standard thistle sword you can get anywhere. Picked up the middle one while visiting with Sydnie7 in SOCAL (two more different pins coming later) of the National defense ribbons. The one at the end is a new acquisition from Alexis Malcolm.

There is a twisted thistle pin that is on one of the kilts somewhere but here is a pick from their catalog -

Just put this one together from my junk box. It gets held on with a neodymium magnet.

antler tip kilt pin.jpg I like this antique antler tip kilt pin I ran across. I think it's probably from about the 1950's or earlier as the attachment is pretty primitive. I enjoyed a lot of the examples on this page in particular the round etched pins. Some great ideas. Thanks for sharing.

My first tartan I think will be the US Navy one. My plan is to use my ESWS (Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist) pin as the kilt pin, since it just sits in a drawer collecting dust anyway. I also have the aviation warfare pin, maybe I'll stack them or find something else to do with it.
for reverence, linking to a photo. At work right now.

Just as nice a pin in this thread as it was in the other! Well done!

If brass, make it antique
Here are two of my favorite pins. The first is a US Army Air Corp hat badge given to me by Maj. Charles Noyes (deceased now but not forgotten) The second is a Wandertag hat pin I received in Garmisch after a 5 Km hike to pick Edelweiss blooms with other Airborne troops on the surrounding mountains. They are small at two inches and light weight but I wear them both with pride. "All the Way - Every Day! Airborne" Garmisch pin.jpgus pin.jpg
