I think it's just about learning how to sit in a kilt. I tend to sit like Prince Charles, or cross my legs, but each to their own I wear a kilt liner under mine, it can save the blushes if the wind catches your kilt or some joker tries to lift it

I am new to wearing kilts and am fastidious about keeping mine clean. I recently did an internet search for kilt liners and found little results. Is the one you mentioned wearing ready made?
    With thanks

It's basically a "slip" made for men.

there are sauna kilts, but they're usually made of terry cloth, or too long.

    this is one in linen

I have not come across ready made ones. As far as I am aware you have 2 choices. 1. Make one from an old tee-shirt as suggested by the Wizard of Oz on another thread sometime ago or 2. buy a ladies black half slip and modify it. It will generally need any frill cut off and perhaps shortening . You need to make sure that the hem circumference is long enough so as not to restrict your movement otherwise you will also need to put slits in the sides.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

Okay lads, this is something that comes up often in the beer tent (for good reason). Most pipe band players are wearing kit that other people have worn. It's considered good manners (and a boon to karma) to keep your bits off the band kilt. I would love to elaborate, but I don't think I need to.

The other reason? At the risk of being crude... shorts/pants/boxers/whatever absorb sweat and various other potentially objectionable liquids that travel from yon nethers. Like I said, there's a reason this topic comes up in the beer tent (usually after the second pint). Think about the next time you borrow a kilt or belt on a rental.

I respect the desire to be "authentic," but there are other ways of going about it. If you want to prove virility (and in the most Freudian way possible), toss a caber and call it a day.

Wish to say howdy to everyone here. I am very new to the kilted world. Although I have been wanting a kilt since I first saw a full dress kilt when I was about twenty years old, I have only finally ordered one (yesterday, in fact. And I am now 56yo.) I am looking forward to the arrival with lots of anticipation. I could not afford a full eight yard kilt in a family tartan, so I ordered a handsome five yard kilt in a universal tartan, USA Kilts' Celtic Nation.

As far as the decision to wear or not to wear underwear, I think that it remains the wearer's choice. Modesty is not my biggest concern; I am a long time member of a local nudist camp. But I do appreciate social norms as far as public exposure goes. However, that said, I really have not choice but to wear undergaments. Cancer treatment I had four years ago left me with some incontinence. My greatest fear now is not being able to control myself in public. Therefore, I now wear those adult items usually reserved for people much older than myself. The underwear will be not so much for preventing acidental exposure but for protection of a garment that is too costly and important to get soiled. And to prevent accidental revelation that I am wearing diapers. That would be far more embarrassing for me. I am looking forward to a great life with kilts. And thank you all for your hospitality on this forum.
