Yup, they only took about 3 days to get from Scotland to the US, but once here they were held in customs for TEN DAYS before finally being released. Then anotehr two days to get to us, I beleive. Anyway, they arrived at 4:30pm on Thursday and everything was sent out Friday morning.

And, the best news is that we now have a really full stock of all colors and sizes on the shelf, so anyone considering ordering, know that you will get your hose put out to you right away!

Many thanks, Chef, I will certainly bear you in mind if I do not get anywhere with a direct source on this side of the pond. Frankly, I have been too busy these past two weeks or so to follow up any enquiries, but I propose making time next week.

I can verify from the pictures on the Highland Clans site that these are the same hose made by the same company. I have no idea why they would choose to carry only five standard colors. (Well, I can guess it would just be for economy -- it is less expensive to stock only the common colors -- but to be honest, part of the reason I got really excited about this line was the wide color variety, so it seems to me to defeat the purpose to only offer five standard colors that you can get in any kilt hose).

Also, they offer the same traditional garter ties. Like the hose, they don't offer the full range of colors. However, oddly enough, one of the colors they do offer is "lemon" which is strange because I have never seen any shade of yellow appear on their availability list! I would have stocked it if I knew about it! I'll have to ask about this color.

About shipping to the UK, believe it or not we frequently get customer orders coming through from the UK, for UK-made products. I scratch my head about it, and then process the order in good cheer! For companies that we deal direct with, I will usually just have them ship straight to the customer. Like you said, it just doesn't make sense to ship the good from the UK, to USA, then back to UK.

However, this sock company has a US distributor that handles orders for their US based retailers, so I don't actually deal with their UK office. That being said, I'm sure I could arrange for them to ship direct to you if you cannot find another UK based retailer.

    Aye,
    Matt
Matt, many thanks to you also. As I explained to Chef, I have been too busy of late to even think about telephoning the Company or the UK Stockist whose details Trefor kindly supplied, but I will try to do so next week. I also need to chase the order I did place - it is now just over two weeks since I placed it and there has been no word from Highland Clans Ltd.!

If I am unlucky in finding what I want over here, I might well take up your offer of assistance. Thank you again.

One of my little quirks is hating to wait for kilt hose...I'm olde...I'm entitled.

Anyhow, seeing there's stock ready to roll I'm ordering two pair of purple and two pair of brown.

I'm really getting to like these kilt hose. Probably don't need to hand wash them, but I choose to.

Hoping the purple goes with my Isle of Skye and Warrior tartans and isn't overkill. The Browns have lots they can go with.

I work long days and one of my self-care routines is coming home for lunch and changing into a fresh pair of kilt hose for the rest of the day.

Hence, the need for two pair of each color.

Guess I'll hear if they're still in stock on Monday.

Sound's like a carry-over from the Corps, Ron.

Sorry there has been no word Hamish - they were quick to supply me and also to respond to emails.

Try writing to them - niall@highlandclans.co.uk and see if that speeds things up.

The purple will go very well with the Isle of Sky tartan (in my humble opinion) especially with loden or lovat green garters. I can't comment on the Warrior tartan as I have not seen that one in person.

And all I can say is that unless we had an unpredicented phenomenal run on purple kilt hose Saturday, there should be no problem filling your order Monday morning. :-)

    Yellow Hose

I have been searching for YELLOW or GOLDEN kilt hose and can not find any. Do any of you know where I can buy some? I know they are not a traditional color. However, I saw an old photo of our Clan Chieftan wearing yellow hose and I thought they looked great.

    Thanks,

    Bryan
