Assuming is always risky, but it is easy to assume that these are the best of times to be alive, only history will tell, so many fronts, so many crises, who is to say? And yet for those of us conscious of the world around us, what can be more pivotal? As the bumper sticker says: Think globally, act locally. May the road rise before you, yaadayh, yaadayh, yaadayh.

I'm here for the beer and hot babes.
However, it must be said that the XMarks guys and gals that I've met "Real Time" have turned into real friends. For that I am very grateful.

I remember moving to this new forum from the Bravehearts threaded message forum. My profile shows that I joined on the 4th of June, 2004, so that would have been in the middle of my Appalachian Trail hike. (Unfortunately my post log only shows my last 500 posts.)
Looking at the new posts today it seems a lot different than back then. More people are making their own kilts or accessories, and then sharing that information so even more people can follow their examples. Due to the breadth of posts available for viewing, we've all gotten better at dressing ourselves in a coordinated fashion, everyone knows how to sit on the toilet, and there's a vast treasury of photos and comments on how not to wear the kilt.
I feel like wearing the kilt is old hat; I'm comfortable with it. I don't really think about it much anymore, except when I walk down the street and have people comment at me. Yet every day there's someone with questions about kilts, someone who just got their first kilt, someone who just wore their kilt in public for the first time, someone who's nervous about wearing their kilt to work. It's nice to see this excitement still in evidence, and nice to know that there's one more person I might run into on the street wearing the kilt.
Andrew.

I joined at the end of Nov 05 and was looking for kilt info. Boy was I in for a surprise on joining. Had been viewing Bravehearts but had not joined and some how it was mentioned about Xmarks and I saw the forum and have enjoyed the fellowship and the opportunity to meet some of the members in person. I started off with 1 light weight box pleated kilt I got at Rendezvous in Sep. and needed to know how to finish the apron. not only did I finish the kilt I ordered a heavy weight SWK Black Watch for that years Christmas party and now I have 9 kilts and lots of accoutrements for my collection.
Now to get one of Joe's knives and I will be a happy camper. (After the new year.)
