I too have missed Panache's contributions here. He has been a member almost as long as I have and has always been an online friend. I have never met him in person as we live on opposite coasts, but look forward to the day when we do meet. I may not have always agreed with all his positions and decisions during his time as a moderator, but I always liked and respected him - that's how it works when your friends. His posts were always either informative or entertaining, sometimes both. His stories inspired me to hit the keyboard and write my own.

I do hope that whatever unpleasantness that happened is resolved and he can again feel comfortable returning to the forum. We miss him.

Ya know folks, I don't dispute all the kind words - yet it wasn't always honey and oats and pith helmets and fezs.

Some of us bumped heads with Jamie and, in my opinion only, sometimes the baby was thrown out with the bathwater.

I say again, its probably a good thing that Jamie is standing down for a while. Probably one of the most helpful/therapeutic things the rabble can do for Jamie is to carry on without him, let him lurk if he chooses, and see how the board is without him.

He obviously liked how we were before he joined - because he joined. I'm sure he'll like us while he's standing down too - for whatever period he chooses.

AA has a tradition of "Rotating leadership is best." Because that works best. It keeps any one person from dominating, controling, putting their spin on groups. And, more importantly, it encourages new blood to try their wings and contribute rather than depending on one person for direction.

Jamie, enjoy your time away. Let wounds heal. Let peacefulness surround you. Let others drive for a while. Come back when you're ready - if you choose.

    No. "It ain't so."

However, Jamie's reasons for stepping back are his own and should be treated with that respect.

Indeed they should. I suspect most of us here are not privy to what has been going on behind the scenes and frankly it is none of our business. Jamie has kept his own council, as far as I am aware, and I think we should respect all concerned in whatever might or might not have happened between Jamie and whoever, by keeping quiet. Maybe it is a case of "least said, soonest mended" which I for one would very much like to happen.Who knows? In my honest opinion, none of us are helping the situation by commenting on something that most of us know nothing about.

I agree with Jock and what has been said in the most recent few posts. I would like to let Jamie know that I do miss his contribution to this board, and that I'd like to have him back posting, but that I respect whatever he chooses to do.

Maybe we are not helping the situation, but what does it hurt to let someone know that you appreciate them? I wish Jamie the best in all future endeavors, and respect his choice to step away from the forum.

I could not agree more JS. Well put.

Jock is referring to the speculation as to the reasons for Jamie's absence, not the "we miss you" posts.

So true, in so many ways, for so many things ...and I haven't a clue what they're all talking about.

...but I did learn two new and interesting pieces of information as a result of this thread. Much like parents, forum rules lead people to act sometimes because of, and sometimes in spite of, the rules' existence...and sometimes a little of both .

Thank you, gentlemen all, for the unintended consequences of re-reading the rules .

Thank you for the clarification. I completely agree with JS then.
