I have never seen a pleat like this one, its a sort of a box pleat and a knife pleat. It is a very deep pleat too - measuring about 4 inches; that said, I know almost nothing about pleating! I got this kilt from the mighty eebs for £60, and am super happy with it. It is not quite what I was looking fro, but I think it will suffice for one of the kilts i will need for the coming year!

I am wearing it to the University here, and am wearing it with a royal blue shirt, and green 80's Canadian Patrol Jacket. I love this look, and the boots are fantastically comfortable: I walked home this evening from the philosophy cafe and it was -15 - but I was still plenty warm enough with a black Shemagh and the gloves and tam you see in the backpack!
