I have discovered, just this morning, a recent (5 generations) ancestor from France, a member of the Mabile Family. Now, to work that into a Lady Chrystel Kilt somehow!

Brilliant
As I have said before, Robert, that is a brilliant kilt! I have recently got my grubby hands on 5 yards of MacDonnell of Keppoch tartan, which will be my new belted plaid. I am thrilled!!! So, the 5 yards of MacEwan that I was using as my belted plaid will now be used for a box pleat. I was planning to sew a knife pleat, but after seeing your box pleat, I am completely sold on box pleats. I still have the Hunting Stewart in knife pleats, so I will have a great selection from which to chose!
Slainte!

It will be with immense pleasure that we will transform that MacEwan tartan into a superb Double Box Pleated Kilt !
My Lady Chrystel is a bit behind in her kilting scedule. She has 3 more to make before summer !

Lady Chrystel has outdone herself again. Robert, you are a most fortunate man to have a resident kiltmaker, sporran maker, expert knitter, etcetera. What a brilliant result!

Wow, very nice work! My next hiking kilt project will definitely be a "French box pleat"...it looks like an ideal application for lighter weight fabrics.
Thanks for inspiring yet another project.

Indeed !
I'm really in love with these double box ! Mind you, I not very objective !
They have swish, they allow mouvement.
With 4 yards fabric, like any box pleat , they are light; but a double box will also have the amplitude of a knife pleat.
