I have loads of ties in my wardrobe dating back to the days when I had to wear a tie due to the requirements of the occupations I had.

Now they hardly ever see the light of day except on occasions such as the odd church attendance with my day jacket and vest. On formal occasions with PC it's most likely to be a scrunchie cravat.

When going away I usually pack at least one and a couple of shirts just in case but they usually come back unworn.

Church? Certainly when I was a kid, a tie and suit was a must for church. Today, it's much more casual. But, I admit, I'm still not too comfortable NOT wearing a suit in church.

I voluntarily wear a tie if wearing more formal kilted gear. Not during the day ever.

For work I wear a tie only if I absolutely have to. Next week I'm on an interview panel. That will be two tie wearing occasions for work this year. Don't own a suit and don't need one. Thankfully.
