You Are Looking At The Wrong Kilt

I said the off the rack kilt, click on the Blog link on RKilts page and look at the entry and you will see them. They are NOT the same nor priced the same as the Hemp kilt.

The TDK is only available online, direct from 5.11, so their dealers don't get any information about the product. The only dealers who know anything about it are those who've seen the videos on the 5.11 YouTube channel, or those who have customers (like moi) who wear them.

Well, I like the TDK enough to ignore the narrow apron... but I don't see it as an issue anyway. The TDK isn't, by any stretch of the imagination, a traditional kilt. It's a "kilt" within the broader meaning of the term, and some parts of the design - such as the fact that it has an apron at all, and D-rings to make securing a sporran easily - are clearly influenced by traditional kilts, but it's a different sort of garment. The narrow apron looks wrong for a traditional kilt, but I don't have any issue with the way the TDK looks.
To each, his or her own preferences...

I have one on the way! Plain khaki to start. Of course, it will match the pants I wear when I'm in uniform. Should be here the 22nd.

Desperately wanted the Tundra in 36" or 38" (I'm right in between the two sizes, slightly closer to the 36"), but too bad they were out of stock by the time I got to the site
Anyone want to trade me for a Multicam one in either 36" or 38", or a black one in 38"? the Multicam 38" has been worn only once, the 38" Black ones still have the tags on it, and the 36" Multicam one is newly ordered, awaiting delivery.

If mine doesn't fit, I'll be willing to trade. It still hasn't arrived.

It finally arrived! I'll never use FedEx Smartpost again. It may be good elsewhere, but it took them a week to ship it out of Washington.
The kilt fits fine. I guess I wear my pants tighter than this kilt should be. Or maybe the size variation inherent in mass production erred in my favor this time. Either way I'm happy with it.
Tundra is definitely dark green. Not even a hint of brown. Pictures to come.

Agreed. I have a TON of 5.11 stuff, dating back to the days of "5.11" being the Royal Robbins Company's model number for what is now the Original Tactical Pant. I would describe Tundra as a very dark spruce green. It looks great with a tan shirt, BTW. I thought the TDK sizing ran a little large compared to 5.11 pants in the same size. It seemed to be a perfect fit when I pulled the kilt up the my natural waist, just as a traditional kilt should be worn. I don't know if 5.11 planned it that way, or it was just a happy accident, but I refuse to argue with results.
