Acouple of my kilts are Anderson, but my branch of the family is from Sweden. I also wear Gordon for my great-great grandmother who was a Gordon and I have a kilt in McCarthy because I have some McCarthy ancestry from County Cork. I hope to add a County Cork tartan to the collection. I also have an Xmarks kilt. I wear a newly created tartan that my sensai Chevalier Lord Douglas Bailey has created for his family and sword scholars to wear. So, while I do feel free to wear most Tartans at will, all of my choices do have some ancestral or affiliation connection.

    Two at present:

    Fitzgerald ancient
    Buchanan weathered (MacGibbon sept)
I have a tartan designed by Jeff Fitzsimmons and Matt Newsome which is being registered as "Fitzgibbon" (very cool). Matt will make a box pleat later in the year for me.

I don't happen to have any clan tartans asI only have one Scottish ancestor in my family tree, a Boxell from the lowlands; and I don't want to pay a ton of money for the few places that have it. I do have a rather nice Irish heritage kilt though, which represents all of my non Scotch and Native American ancestory. I would like to get a Connaught provience tartan though at some point if I could find one at a reasonable price, as thats my great-grandparents home provience(home counties were Galway, Roscommon, and Clare). Well, enough rambeling here. Later everyone.

    Slainte,

If it ever gets here I'm waiting on my Baird tartan (dads side), may get a Cumming tartan (mom's).

That is a great looking kilt David. It looks like a Matt Newsome box pleat. I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my 9 yard Ancient Lamont tank.

    Thanks Jim,
The kilt was made by Wanda McSwain in NC.
I just sent some clothe off for Matt to make me another box-pleat.
