Cousin Jimmy,
We need to build a clan genealogy database.

I also have found that if you use coat of arms searches that you can usually narrow your search to your heraldry.

If you are referring to the so-called family histories that come with "family crests" from "bucket shop" heraldry places, I would advise you to proceed with caution. Remember, arms in Scottish heraldy belong to individuals and not surnames.

What Todd said
Beware. Most of the info provided with "family" coats of arms is bogus, or if true, not relevant to anyone other than the person granted the arms.

Question for all: I have gone back to three generations on my fathers side and 4 on my mothers and found out that I have 6 parts English, 3 parts Irish, 2 parts Scottish, 2 parts German and 1 part Dutch. The Scots side is on my mothers, so should I mostly proclaim that or should I stay with the dutch tartan from my fathers side?
Also anyone hear of the name Pinyerd?

In Missouri, death certificates more than 50 years old and after 1910 are available on the web. Here is the link:
http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/resou...hcertificates/
There are also sporadic references to older ones but they may not be complete.
If someone died between 1910 and 1958 in Missouri, there is a lot of info on the certificates, including names and birthplaces of parents.

Florence King, in "Southern Ladies and Gentlemen," entitled her chapter on the Southern obsession with genealogy, "Thou Shalt Be Kings, No Matter Who Begat Thee."
When it comes to having illustrious or interesting antecedents, it seems to be whatever you can get people to accept----to your face.
