Re: R'lyeh Sett Jonesin' Thread...
At LOOOOOOOONG last, I can reveal my scheme!
As many of you know, I'm not one to do something by half-measures, so when I decided that I was going to get a kilt made in the R'lyeh sett, I was going all-out.

Matt sewed up my kilt (5yd box pleat) and it's a delight to wear. As much as I love the swish of an 8yd 16oz kilt, the box pleat is incredibly comfortable to wear- ESPECIALLY if you're required to sit/drive.
He had his tailor make the waistcoat to my spec (four button, square bottom edge, shawl collar).
Matt's hose maker did up a set of diced hose to match the dusty purple and the middle-toned green.

I'd say they "fit like a glove", but in truth they fit like perfectly sized hose.
My ex-MoD "Devilfish" sporran is doing duty until I finally have the time to make my themed dress sporran.

Scott, that is an outfit to be proud of! Outstanding.
I only ever wanted one Artificer sporran, but now that I have R'lyeh sett tartan I really want a ray skin sporran, too. Sigh, does it never end?

Thanks all, I must say that I'm quite pleased. Now to finally save up enough for the doublet I want.***

I thought the waistcoat looked impressive when I mailed it out to you, but there is no substitute for seeing it on, as part of the whole outfit.
Do you mind if I use these pics on my site, Scott?
Again, fantastic!
Thanks, Matt. Let me see if my wife can get one of me where everything is properly aligned. It's the curse of self-pix with a timer. Focus, press the button, run-like-mad, try-to-get-everything-straight-again, click.

Yeah, especially since I doubt that, should there be a second run, the dyes won't match even if they do custom dye for us again.

As it happens, I DO have another devilfish skin in the shop... it's a MONSTER sized one, and a beauty. Just saying.

And no, as long as you're hanging around on X-Marks there will ALWAYS be something new to want. ***see my comments on the first line.

Scott, you've put together one HECK of an outfit there, my friend! The hose and waistcoat look a treat, for sure! Can't wait to see the themed sporran!
And also, it does my heart much good to finally SEE someone else wear this tartan! I've felt like the lone cultist for two months!
May WE be eaten first,
Ryan

EDIT: I see that you also opted to pleat to "***"; the finest choice, IMHO.

Thanks Mike. I obviously took my cue from HRH Price Charles in the cut of the waistcoat. It goes fairly well with the Argyll, but when I finally get around to having my velvet doublet made up, the waistcoat will REALLY make the outfit.

I did indeed have it pleated to the "Colour Out of Space". It's funny, in many lighting conditions the stripe is either purple, or just not there at all, but when I hold up the original test yarn from Dalgliesh next to the sett, it's quite obvious that it is a very dark, ashy, green. It may be my favorite part of the current colours of the sett.
I didn't mean to leave you hanging out there to potentially be eaten first all by your lonesome, I just thought I'd wait and make a splash entrance when all the goodies arrived.

Ryan, I gots mine yesterday. But by bedtime I was still so busy with phone calls and emails from co-workers and various alphabet agencies regarding security coordination for the President of Israel's address at my workplace (where I'm the Director of Security) tonight that I didn't even get to open the box. Just back a while ago from tonight's operation, just got it out of the box. It's beautiful!
Pics later. Matt's Rob Roy (film) tartan tweed kilt was in the same box, and. . .honestly. . .I think I'll be wearing and photographing that one first.
