Anything further to note on this thread about the X Marks
the Scot kilt pin? I don't know if anybody had
thought to mention about a brooch pin in the same
design that I saw about 5 or 6 threads in this line.
Would like to see a brooch pin for the Fly Plaid.
Typical size would be about 3-4 inches diameter with
perhaps a colored stone in the middle or a thistle
emblem or other scottish icon.

Wow, I'm just getting in on this thread after no doubt every thing has been decided already! It's tempting to please everybody and wind up with a design that's just too fussy. Thing is when this happens the original and most important part of the design is submerged. KISS formula-keep it simple and straightforward! Only thing that I might add is that a simple " X " can mean the flag of many countries until you add the color. Now wouldn't an enameled pin be novel and eye-catching. That is just the X on the deep blue background. Just a thought to kick around. - Cheers- Alan

X...

That actually might be kind of cool. The saltire, or x-shaped cross, is found on a flag associated with Ireland, the St. Patrick's Cross, as well as a Russian flag, since St. Andrew is one of the patron saints of Russia. It's also found on several US state flags, Nova Scotia in Canada, and one of the Channel Islands, Jersey.
And, the Welsh and the Cornish, twa Celtic people's, use a cross as well, the St. David's cross (gold on black) and the St. Piran's cross (white on black), respectively.
just a thought...
Cheers,
T.

Have just been thinking somemore about the kilt-pin. Howabout doing an enamelled Saltire Flag which is elongated to say: 20mm X 70mm. There would be room then along the two long dimensions to add say a Celtic design. But then it still would not be identified with this website. Well then forget the Celtic design let's put on one side of the flag, X MARKS and then along the other side: THE SCOT.COM
No confusion here it's the Saltire Flag in blue and the web address. - Cheers- Alan
