What's that movie about? I saw it and it didn't click...

Here is a plot summary from IMDB.
In 1970, the just-graduated doctor Nicholas Garrigan moves to Uganda to get rid of his conservative father. While working in a mission in the country, he meets the new President Idi Amin after the coup-d'é-tat that overthrow the former government. He is invited to become his personal physician in Kampala and along the years he sees how despotic his friend is.

I have to agree with a lot of you my new favorite kilted movie has got to be
Tunes of Glory
If you have not seen it do yourself a favour and watch it. I was lucky enough to get a Criterion collection DVD from e-bay for about $5.00

Highlander and The Wicker Man (i.e. two movies as opposed to a Sci-Fi Channel film about a Scotsman who meets a giant sacrificial offering )

I have to say that my favourite involving Kilts would be The Wicker man. It was a fantastic film and I never get sick of watching it. (And trying to catch the dubbing over Britt Eckland.)

In the movie they explain all of that, don't forget that Idi Amin was part of the K.A.R. (King's African Rifles) of the British Colonial Army.

Adim suffered from "delusions of grandeur" and claimed this particular title. As McMurdo mentioned, he served in the KAR and was quite the Anglophile:

I can't say i have an outright favourite,..but one that would be in my top three would have to "Wee Geordie" (1955)
It is one of those typlical 1950's British films, with that innocent, warm, feelgood factor.
It stars Bill Travers as a little Scottish boy who is ribbed by his friends for being so tiny.
So he builds himself up, and ultimately enters the Olypics in the hammer.
I simply love that old flick,......and i feel like watching it right now.
It also stars another of my favourite actors,....Alistair Sim
His goal in life is to enter the Olypics wearing his Father's Black Watch kilt.
So for me,..."Wee Geordie"
Neil.
