Re: R'lyeh Sett Jonesin' Thread...
Hahaha- No problemo, good sir, and I completely understand why you wanted to wait until all (or almost all) of the outfit was together!
And speaking of, Matt does a heck of a job of coordinating all this stuff, doesn't he? Makes the kilts, has hose custom worked, has fairly obscure vest patterns (superb choice of vest pattern, Scott) made up in the tartan of our choice. He's a prince.
On the subject of the R'lyeh colors, I know what you mean. I've been snapping lots of pictures lately, and I've never seen a more perplexing tartan. Depending on the lighting, I feel like it can truly have the look of each of the three standard color schemes. And that's not to even mention the "color out of space", and what that particular stripe can do. I really have to hand it to you aswell, Scott!

As much as I wish I could take credit for it, the "Colour Out of Space" was, at best, an accident. Although, Ken Dalgliesh did call me after he sent the samples and said that that particular colour was "a very odd one".
I'll simply chalk it up to the subtle influences of the Great Old Ones.

Artificer, that is a splendid outfit! I really like the way the colors in the hose pick up the tartan. Congratulations again on such a fine tartan design.

Looks great, Artificer! Every time I see one of those ray sporrans, it makes me want to get one even more...

Ooo mama... These kilts are spreading like a bad rash, "very odd' colors or no.

Awesome kilt, awesome sporran, and awesome story, sensei.
I'm quite proud to be a part of this project, and it's really cool to see these kilts popping up all over the place, now. I'm just hoping I'll get to see another of these kilts IN PERSON, before long. :cthulhusmiley:
P.S. Those hose look really good with everything. Bison?

I recently received my R'lyeh Sett kilt from Matt and I have been slow to get my pics up so here I go! I am extremely pleased with the kilt and the service was excellent. I made a mistake in my waist measurement and Matt was able to quickly resize the kilt to match my actual measurements and shipped the kilt back almost immediately. I am very impressed with his work and service as I knew I would be.
Here are some pics just after opening the box.

You can see here that I had Matt pleat to the purple stripe with a knife pleat. I like the look.

The pics of me in the kilt were taken at night and I apologize for the poor lighting.
I posed for the event with my Cthulhu Fez and Squid tie.

And here I am doing the obligatory pleat shot.

Fantastic! You look like one of "The Dark Shriners".
Surely somewhere out there we have more kilts by now, right? I think we've only seen 10-12 so far, and I KNOW it went out to more people than that...
or have they all been driven mad / consumed by things from beyond?

I have enough for two kilts here, one for me, one for CGR. I am hesitant to get mine made just yet, as I have been losing weight but not enough to be satisfied yet. I do need to get CGR's made soon though as he'd like to wear it to prom next spring. (He's hoping he has enough for a fly plaid, too)

I've had some other projects that have been consuming my time keeping me from sewing lately. (Pipes and surface mount electronics). Maybe over the winter I can get the practice ones done and get on with the cthulu one.
