Or maybe it was a braveheart, i can't remember, but either way, either my brother was wearing the prince charlie or I was, but we both had belts on, and it was actually recommended by the kilt store that we went to.
Nobody is going to yell at you. Personally, I think it looks too busy, and besides, the waistcoat should cover the area the belt should be at anyways. It's just a slight faux pas, but nothing terrible.

There are some who insist they should not be worn together. Not all of us agree.

So I am poking my head around www.Mwart.com and I go to look at their kilts. I noticed something funny.

    this actually:

At first I thought, thats no kilt thats a skirt that is pleated all the way 'round. but I don't think so, I think it is just on backwards. I also think it is way to long.

    and they were advertising it!
here is the actual page: http://www.mwart.com/xq/ASP.product/...ttish-kilt.htm

I was more cringing at the huge leather cuffs. Or that belt that is tied around his waist, with the rest running down to his feet... hell, why didn't he just wrap it around twice??

that's not a belt, it's a leash. This one's not allowed out alone.

    Well, that was unkind.

This is one of the most diplomatic responses ever posted. There should be a prize for it.

How many flame wars would this have prevented in the past?

    Seriously.

I finally made it to the end of this thread. It should be a right of passage for new members. What a blast and you get to see some real charactures.

I looked at the site. It said "One size fits all"

    ...worrisome, to say the least.

mishmash of cultures. none of which was thought about. they were just looking for something to appeal to the renn faire attendee fantasies.
