    New L&M Highland Sporran

Although I have owned a kilt for many years, I had never bought a dress sporran.

In fact, my only sporran until 25 January 2026 was a plain, brown leather dayware sporran.

I now have four - two bought from eBay that were found by OC Richard (very reasonable prices, too), one of them a pre-owned W.E. Scott pony sporran.

And today I received from L&M Highland my first new dress sporran, the "Craig" Black Muskrat Dress with rabbit fur tassels. It is a lovely sporran. The photos don't do it justice.

The photo of the back deceptively shows the fur off-center, but in fact it is not. I am very happy with the quality of workmanship by L&M.

    Very nice!

That cantle has been around for a long time, here it is (with three knobs) in a 1938 catalogue

In this c1970s WE Scott pamphlet that cantle is called both "EW2" and "EW4".

    I surmise that EW2 refers to the 5-piece silver-plated version, EW4 to the two-piece nickel-plated version.

Here's a closeup of some vintage EW2 sporrans, which more often than not had cones rather than spheres.

The three bosses are separate screwed-on pieces on this silver-plated version, while with EW4 the bosses were cast with the cantle as one piece.

    Invoice - Entry Prep Fee

I was wondering if I was going to receive a bill for tariff charges for the L&M sporran.

Well, that question was answered today when I received an invoice in the mail from UPS.

Under three Duty Classes, all for "Patent or Metallized Leather," the "Tariff Rate" was FREE.

However, there was an "Entry Prep Fee" of $10.00 with a "Basic/Tier Discount" of $6.00.

Net charge of $4.00, which I paid online to UPS a short while ago.

How or if the recent Supreme Court decision affects a refund remains to be seen.

I always get a chuckle when I see a post with lovely photos, and as I'm about to click the "thanks" button, I see I already clicked it on a previous visit.
