    New XMarker in Rochester NY

    Greetings to all!

I bought my first kilt last fall from Scotland By The Yard in Quechee VT - Johnstone plaid. Wore it for the first time in public New Year's Eve when my wife and I went to a nice dinner. (Also got accosted by a woman demanding to know what I was wearing under the kilt. In the restaurant no less! Could have been traumatic for a first-timer... )

Was so happy with the Johnstone that I contacted SbtY and ordered a kilt in my family's tartan - Marjoribanks. This kilt was more expensive and took longer because the tartan had to be woven. But the wait and expense was worth it!

The kilt is, I believe, the correct length. The perspective of the photo implies a longer kilt than what it is.

I've since bought 4 Sport Kilts for everyday use as I really don't want to risk boogering up the two dress kilts. And I've gotten so my first choice in the morning is to grab one of the kilts rather than shorts. And since I'm self employed and work out of m house I can really wear one constantly.

Did have a very neat experience on walkies around the development tonight. Three ladies were kibbutzing on a porch and one called out to me asking about the kilt I was wearing (a Wallace Sport Kilt). I spent five minutes talking with them and answering their questions (none of them asked The Big One). In general I've had a great time wearing the kilts and have had nothing but positive responses. I may have even convinced a couple of other friends to get kilts.

Having a great time here and look forward to the company!!

It's always the third Sunday in September, so this year it will be September 16th. If one wants to see just about any kind of British car imaginable this is the place to see it! My wife and I go up there in our '73 Triumph Stag and meet a group of other Stag owners and make a long weekend of the event. Great location and even better people! We stay at a hotel in Burlington and always visit the Queen's Head pub at least a couple of times while we're there.

from New Hampshire. How was the experience at Scotland By The Yard? I've been in there a few times but never actually got anything from them.
