Back to sporrans, here's an older quite handsome WE Scott sporran with the higher-quality silver-plated cantle. It's already attracted bids which is no surprise.

Notice it has the scribe-line across the back, forming a hinge of sorts for the opening back. This was a feature of the earliest WE Scott 1953 Patent sporrans, which also bore the Patent number on a second gold oval stamp.

At some point they stopped using the Patent stamp, and at some point after that stopped doing the scribe-line hinge.

And here's what appears to be a more recent WE Scott Evening sporran.

Yes the cantle is the less-expensive chrome (or nickel?) version, but overall the sporran is nice.

Yes I saw that, it has the look of a child's sporran, but the measurements indicate it's a youth's size.

The seller says it's 6 inches wide and 7 inches tall, only an inch smaller in each direction than my adult leather sporran, but small enough to look odd if worn by an adult in my opinion.

A bit pricey for our purposes at $75 but still a huge bargain if is it what it appears to be, a WE Scott sporran (after they stopped stamping them) with nice fur and a handsome cantle.

I can't tell from the photos, but WE Scott made quite a few sporrans that looked like that that they said were Mink.

    Or, perhaps more likely, rabbit.

Here are two gorgeous vintage sporrans which sadly are youth's or child's size.

    Me and my big mouth!!

I saw that the white sporran (probably either mink or rabbit) appeared to have the original box as it would have come from WE Scott & Son.

I used to work at a Highland Outfitter which carried WE Scott sporrans, and they always came in those boxes, which always had the sporran's code hand-written on it, say EW6L or what have you.

So... I messaged the seller to ask what the box had written on it.

Unfortunately for us bargain-hunters the box had Mink written on it, so the seller pulled down the listing and put it back up at a much higher price.

A great trio of sporrans receiving plenty of bids already.

Unfortunately the most interesting of the three is turned around backwards in every photo!

It could be quite old, even Victorian. Hopefully the seller will turn it right-side up and snap a photo!

EDIT: multiple people have contacted the seller for more photos, but the seller says they can't do. They claim that their process is to snap the photos, package the item, send the item to their shipping department, then put the listing up on Ebay.

This seems like a ridiculous way to do things especially if you only photograph each item from one angle.

In this case not only would we love to see the front of the left-hand sporran, we need to see the back of the right-hand sporran to know when it was made. It might be made in the older way with non-opening top and flapped pocket on back. Or it could be a 1953 Patent sporran or post-Patent style.

We can see the high-quality cantle with the boss as a separate screwed-on piece. We would need to see both sides and the top of the cantle to know whether it's silver-plate or Sterling Silver.

WE Scott "semi dress" (post-1970) sporran with seal front already within US borders, $47 buy it now.

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/36472086179...tion=10%7C3000

This sporran is getting a lot of bids. I hope the bidders know it's a child-size sporran.

First, a WE Scott black "day" sporran with seal front, in Canada, for $37

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/30539131915...%7C1750%7C3000

Second, a modern sporran with very modern cantle. It could be pewter, possibly from Art Pewter Silver Ltd.

The photo doesn't show the stamp on the back clearly, here's a good closeup of the stamp from another sporran.

The stamp doesn't state the maker. I've come across several of these sporrans, they have a distinctively shaped tab for the sporran belt.

Here's a lot of 6 sealskin Evening sporrans, from the front very similar (EW2/EW4) thus probably a Pipe Band selling off old kit.

Happily the seller shows us the backs, which tell us that 4 are defo Janet Eagleton, one defo WE Scott & Son, one most probably also WE Scott & Son.
