Kilt hose pins
Hi,
Please help solve a mystery. These pins belonged to my Great Grandfather who came to America from Dunfermline, Scotland. Someone told me they are called “kilt hose pins” but not really sure. I can’t find any images or much information at all about kilt hose pins.
Attached to the back is an Order of Scottish clans pin, which was a mutual aid and cultural society.
Does anyone have information or images of kilt hose pins? Or are they just regular kilt pins? Would they hold flashes in place?
Thank you for any information!

Can we see a photo please, then maybe one of our experts will come along with an answer?

To post a pic in the thread, you need to use the 'Insert Image' button (2nd row, 4th group from left, third button from left) on the Post Reply screen. Browse to find the image, then click on 'upload file(s)' once the file is selected. Please be sure it's a small-ish file, 640x480 pixels or less.

I've been wearing and studying Highland Dress for 50 years and this is the first time I've heard of "kilt hose pins". I can't imagine what their purpose might be. Flashes are held up by garters, I've not heard of pinning the flashes to the hose.
Your lack of Google results lends support to my idea that there's no such thing.
The only pins I can think of that are worn with civilian Highland Dress are a kilt pin and a cap badge.
Have you Googled "kilt pin"? See if that matches what you have.

It looks like a brooch meant to mimic a horsehair sporran with metal cantle.

Maybe wee sporrans for dolls/collector figurines of kilted Scotsmen?
