So I was sitting in The Duke Of Perth this past Saturday (unkilted...sorry guys...) and my daughter got done with her Saturday internship and joined me for lunch.

The Saturday regulars were all there and lo and behold in storms a 14 guy kilted wedding party for to have a couple of shots on the way to the church.

So I sez, "How many of you guys have worn the kilt before this?"

And one guy raises his hand...

"Well," I continue, "I guarantee that at least a couple of you will get converted and after you return those kilts to the rental company you'll start thinking that you want to get one for yourself for keeps....because they're just so damn cool."

And in the course of conversation one of the fellas introduces one of the other members of the wedding party who turns out to be Chris Getz, the second baseman from the White Sox. He's a little embarrassed to be introduced but then we inform him that even though he's six or seven blocks from Wrigley Field, this is the Sox bar on Clark street and any given day you can see at least four or five people (including Kim the bartender and myself) wearing Sox caps.

So they toss down a couple of shots...yeah...they chugged 'em...no savouring the whiskey...and head back outside to a standing ovation from everybody in the bar. They walk out onto Clark Street and up pulls a fire engine...and we all look at each other and say, "...they got a fire engine to ride to the church on? Wow...that is style!" Turns out that the engine just pulled over (on the way back to the station...they weren't on the way to a fire) just to give these guys a "Nice Kilt!". The wedding party actually had a rented trolley come and pick them up and on to the wedding.

Just another Saturday afternoon in Chicago...
