    Smile Michigan's "OFFICIAL" tartan

To all my fellow Michigan kilties,

Did you know that back on 02NOV2010, Govenor Jennifer Granholm approved the "Michigan Up North" tartan as the official state tartan?

This was a long time coming...I understand the weaver (from Alpena) first attempted to make a tartan for Michigan back in 1996.

Looks like I have another kilt to get ordered or at least PLAN to order.

Here is a link to a Michigan news site that has a brief description:

Upset? Hardly. You're just upset that the Wolverines can't beat the Buckeyes!

    Great news.
I tried to get updated information on the status in the early fall.
Glad to see Jenny finally get this done before leaving office.

    NIGHTHAWK,
Sorry to here that you are all still hairless nut fans.
But at least even a whining puppy one day opens it eyes and see's the light...lol

To be fair...I'm upset that the SPARTANS can not beat the Buckeyes.

I did check out the Colorado tartan after your previous post. There certainly is a similarity I wonder if that was intentional or inadvertant?

Not according to Katie Meek, the designer of the Michigan tartan. It was an original design.

Oh, I'm sure it was an original design--I was more joking with Nighthawk. It's not surprising that some of the similar colors would be used to represent the terrain of the states.

I actually do plan to get a kilt made in that tartan someday. I just need to convince my wife...no easy task. She is of the opinion that a person should own "A" kilt, whatever it is, representing their family/region/etc...not so much a fashion item that a person needs many of.
