While it would be nice, you do have one option available now. There is a stand forum appn really good ratings but its $2. However if any of the resident programmers know the android\iOS SDE I offer my encouragement, and my promise to only give constructive criticism. I know programming isnt easy particularly with the world of Android.

This is probably a very stupid question, but what is an X Marks Mobile App? I know that some phones have access to the internet, but surly that is not what you mean, is it?
So what would this mobile app do?
Regards
Chas

Ditto on the iPad, although good tartan search app and other goodies would be a nifty companion.

On my Galaxy S2 the site is finnicky but has superb resolution.
On my iPad it's pretty solid.
I would suggest a forum function, a tartan/weaver index, and some articles about the history and conventions of the kilt et al.

No problems with the site on the iPhone. I think an app might even be superfluous.

Chas,
Such an app would basically be a specialized forum-reader app. Unlike a standard browser, which displays the whole web page, a forum app offers a much more concise interface specializing in displaying thread subject headers, letting you select and drill down through a thread, read and reply to posts, without a lot of icons, clipart, or other elements of a web page that simply occupy a lot of space on very small screens such as the iPhone. They concentrate more on the text content of a forum, without the relative screen real estate clutter of a full web page version of a site like this. There are such dedicated forum apps out there, but they typically are tailored each for a specific site, or for a variety of sites that all run the same known web forum software. I don't know if there's an app already out there that might work with XMTS, but then again, I've never looked.

Such an app does already exist; it's called Tapatalk (http://www.tapatalk.com/). A forum has to be activated to work with Tapatalk. According to Tapatalk's website, activation is free, but it would need to be done by the forum owner/administrator.

The mobile app for forums running the vBulletin software package is "Forum Runner".
X Marks does not currently have an app purchased. I have held off purchasing an app due simply to it's cost per year. I could purchase the app, but would need to increase the advertiser presence on the forum.
I have done all I can to insure that X Marks never goes commercial or becomes a money making site. I keep it free for members and I only charge a minimal amount for ad space to the select group who advertise here.
Please notice that there are no google ads, and only those who offer kilts or kilt related products are accepted as advertisers.
I honestly believe that our members come here because we are not full of flashing ads for cars, vacation homes, and miracle wrinkle removers.
Hopefully within the next year or two the new ver. 5 of vBulletin will be out and fully tested. This version will also have a Mobile App available but the pricing is about half of what it is for ver. 4.
