So it turns out I'm a Maxwell!
I did some genealogy digging on a whim, and my Great, Great Grandmother was a Maxwell. So while it's heavily watered down with Germanic and Norwegian blood, I have Scottish blood in me after all. I'm even eligible to join the Maxwell Clan society. I'll have to look into it. And then I'll have to save up for another kilt (the Maxwell Tartan isn't super common it doesn't look like).
