Negative Family or Friends Kilt Comments.........
I know there is, at least, one 'Accosted While Wearing a Kilt thread'. What I'm wondering is.....
"What kind of really negative / embarrassing / frustrating comments, has anyone received from immediate family, or friends?"
I assume, I'm not a Tigger. I can't be the only one. In my case, it's the Father-in-Law. My first kilted outing was the rehearsal dinner, night before #2 daughter's wedding. The first of our brood. The UK contingent were supportive. Offered stories of the many kilted weddings they've been to. Including the weekend prior, in Ireland. We are at a nice venue, not far from the sight of the Pleasanton Highland games. Hot day, about 12 degrees cooler than last year's Highland Games & Gathering. A couple hours prior to the wedding, my Father-in-Law saw me in the Great Room. Packed with people, he had to say (loudly), "So, where's your purse & skirt?!". Yup, he is that opinionated. He will say what shouldn't be said. So,all can hear. I wore the black suit. Outdoors. With no shade, at 99 degrees.
Now, we are temporarily staying with the in-laws. For Saturday's Tartan Day Faire, I'll take my kit with us when we leave. Stop by a friends, or where the brood work, to change. What I need are several large kilted individuals to show up at the house. Knock on the door, & have him open it. The look on his face would be priceless. He would not say a word with others about. Especially, if 'said kilted individuals' looked like Caber tossers.
So, anyone else?? Consider this a place to commiserate, & laugh. I find reality is the best thing to laugh at.
