This sporran just arrived I got it from an EBay auction for less than £10, circa 1940.

The chain is what really sealed the deal for me I certainly did not need another sporran but I did not yet have a chain like this.

I love mine for formal occasions. It looks great with dress sporrans. In fact I can't remember the last time I used my modern style dress chain (the 'fancy' link kind). You made out good with that buy, congrats.

well, if all you really wanted was the chain, I know a good home for the sporran itself...
That's a fantastic sporran, I'm always a day late on that stuff

A beautiful sporran there!
And the very cool long link chain.
Just now I picked up this one, I think from an XMarker.
Not super-inexpensive, $70-odd once shipping was added, but a beautiful mid-century-looking Day sporran with the oldfashioned stud closure.
Yes there's some wear, but I'm fine with a sporran looking its age.

Bargain sporrans
Couldn't agree more about buying quality local products over cheap foreign imports.
Recently I managed to purchase 2 quality sporrans from eBay and only paid a fraction of the new price.
The first one I bought was a brown leather day sporran made by Nicholl bros of Bankfoot which was new an unused.
I guess the new price would have been over £100 but I managed to pick this little beauty up* for £29.
The second one I purchased was advertised as an unwanted gift and I don't think the seller realised they had a quality item with the bidding starting at just £9.99!
This sporran retails in my local shop for over £180 and I only paid £32 on eBay for it.020190524_192136.jpg
