VMac Inverness Cape review!
Well it finally came, my bespoke Vmac Inverness Cape! Details on my Jones can be found on this thread:
http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/v...999/index.html
Now for the review..
This cape is worth every penny and then some. My cape is a green heavy wool. It is lined with a fabric I really don’t recognize (my fabric knowledge is very limited) but it is very soft. I wanted a cape that was a little different and Victoria came through, putting up with a few of my requests. Victoria was a pleasure to work with. All my inquiries were promptly answered and her craftsmanship is superb.
I was lucky enough to receive it on one of the crappiest weather days we have had this spring, so it has had a good test drive today. It blocked the wind and kept me very warm. When you have arthritis any coat that keeps out the damp and cold is worth it’s weight in gold! The cape dried very quickly once inside much to my surprise. I am one very happy customer!!
So with out further ado pictures:
Front:

Back:

I asked for an inside pocket because I don’t wear a sporran.. and she delivered and surprised me.. I not only have one inside pocket I have two!!

I love the little details: The tag

Extra buttons sewn into the inside facing They look more like horn in real life the camera job is just sucky:

As I said before I am a very happy customer. This cape will receive a lot of wear whether I am kilted or not. I can’t recommend VMac and her capes enough!
Sara
Sorry for the crappy pictures..the white dots on the cape are from my camera and they are not on the cape!

Sara congratulations
That is just wonderful. As a fellow owner of an Inverness Cape from Victoria I can say for a fact you will get loads of wear from it,. I was out today in our lovely snow and was of course wearing my cape I was toasty warm and like you say they seem to dry immediately. I can see you know at a Baker Street Irregulars meeting. We need to see photos of you wearing it though. That colour is so nice you have me thinking about a second cape.

Don't get too excited about colors. Not all the colors are available all the time (except black.) Arlen is next with a royal blue.
Victoria
Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you.

Well Victoria, it really is a nice colour, though it will be a while before I could order another one it would be great to have one in a different colour. I really love the black one though and I always always get compliments when I wear it.

Boy oh Boy, I was pretty sure I wanted one of these capes, now I know I will have to have one.
Time to save the quarters and dollars.....
Great look, would love to see photos of it in use!

Thank you all for the nice compliments. I am so very thrilled with the cape. I will try to get pictures outside when the weather decides to cooperate.

I can now see why art directors picked this type of cape to use in plays and movies. It's unique and really draws the eye. (if you really want to see a ton of different Inverness capes try the Ronald Howard Sherlock Holmes films, watching them has helped get through my Jones!)
Now if the Master did wear an Inverness cape, I now know why .They are warm, waterproof and allow for very fluid movement. They look balky but, there is a freedom of movement with them that you just don't get with a normal winter/spring/fall jacket.
Ah but there I go wandering down Baker St once more!
