Helping out a friend

A Facebook friend ordered a kilt in Heritage of Scotland, and this is what arrived. He knows it's not HoS, and is looking for help identifying the Unknown Tartan.

It's got me stumped. Definitely not Heritage of Scotland as your friend rightly identified. There are similarities with the HOS tartan so I wonder if this is someone's error, or an atempt to cash in on the name.

If I were your firend I would not accept it, point the seller in the direction of the corect sett and ask for a new kilt in the correct tartan.

Duke , I'm not sure that this tartan has an identity .

My suspicion is that it's meant to mimic " Heritage of Scotland " without actually being that exact tartan . Probably for legal reasons . The source of this kilt is probably trying to sell an inexpensive " knock off " .

I admittedly could be wrong and it may be another tartan .

Although , I have seen this practice used with other tartans out in the marketplace with questionable sellers .

Without having the HoS Tartan swatch in my hand to compare with, I can see the differences. A product return and exchange is in order.
