What do you mean make off with? Do you mean, "Easy for someone to steal from?"

I guess it would be "easier" for someone to steal from a sporran as opposed to a pocket, but I welcome the idiot that is dumb enough to try and steal from me. :twisted:

Not so much "steal from" as to simply "steal" as in the whole bloody thing. I might feel differently if I had my sporran on a chain or hanging from a large belt, but mine is attached to a relatively thin leather strap. I guess I just need to figure out a better way of wearin' it. :)

Bradley, when I saw your first post of that kilt the pocket was puzzling to me. My F.K. has something like that for a PDA or IPOD, seems not quite right on a piper's kilt.

THen I read "The Art of Kiltmaking". Do you think it is possible that the pocket on that piper's kilt was used by the kiltmaker to hold the record sheet? (measurements, customer, style, number of pleats, taper, etc)

Just wondering.

My theory is the kilt is from British design. British troops regularly carried their paybook. I don't if that practice still goes on or if and when it was stopped. Anyway, the pocket is about that size. I wouldn't use it for anything other than paper.

So, I take it that the under apron pockets on your designs are all angled to the open apron edge?

And, I don't think I could tell them that we'd have to get married (since I just did get married! :D ) , but I may tell them to let it ring a few times in case I'm a bit tied up. :twisted:

First, thanks for the welcome in the newbie forum and thanks for the reply.

Second, what about those of us kilt newbies that grew up with the brain stain of fanny packs on overweight old men and just aren't fans of the sporran?
