    Kilties in Minnesota

err: Where are they? I've noticed that there are three kilt sellers here on XMTS (Stillwater, Frugal Corner, Celtic Croft) based here in MN and yet I'm hard pressed to find any Kilt nights or other events/gathers around the area. Are they in hiding?

Perhaps I haven't found the right place to look. Any suggestions?

Come up with a cool name like Dead Elvis Kilt Society - DEKS or Southern Ontario Kilt Scot-ciety - SOKS. Then post kilt nights here using that name. It'll be easier to find kilt night anouncements. Now to advertise for Twin city residents to attend. BTW how are commuting conditions there have things eased up?

Minnesota has a very active Scottish community:

    http://www.tartandaymn.org/links.html

All you need is the above list, and you're sure to find fellow kilt-wearers.

    Cheers,

    Todd

Well, when the busiest bridge in Minnesota goes out, it really throws everything everything off. My job has me driving all over the metro area and I used to cross that bridge several times a week. My wife was on it about an hour before it went down and I had crossed over it earlier that day. But to answer your question, they have done a descent job of getting traffic rerouted and tho traffic moves a little slower getting through Minneapolis, it is at least moving.

By the way, I like the idea of coming up with a cool name. I will ponder...and take suggestions!

    kilties in MN

There is a VERY active Scottish communty here in Minnesota, and expecially in Minneapolis/St. Paul.
The http://www.tartandaymn.org/ is a good start. If you sign up for the SNIM it will list where all the activities are going on each month, and where the kilt nights are.

You should join one of the local dance groups. RSCDS practices at the Tapestry in MPLS, and it is a BLAST!
Clan Tartan is also quite active doing demonstrations and dancing.

Yes. After spending some time really digging in on the net, I found a bunch of stuff. Oh!, the impatience of !youth! To bad I'm not actually "Youth"!

Still, with a name like "Minne-kilts", people would flock in!
