A Christmas Jonesing???
I know!! I waited until the last minute; but circumstances put it beyond my control. And I'm not even Jonesing for myself!!!!
A wonderful lady I have been "sort of" dating informed me that I am expected to be at her house Christmas morning to have breakfast and what not with her family. Her sister, her son, her daughter and son-in-law, and the twin grand daughters are all flying in for the holidays. I'm not supposed to bring anything except maybe the cream puffs I make that she likes so much. Well.... couple days ago she let it slip that she started a Christmas stocking for me, so now I am scrambling to come up with something to reciprocate.
She has gotten quite used to seeing me kilted, and has taken a passive interest in her own familial background. Thanks to the internet and hours spent researching, I have been able to identify the true family crest/coat of arms (not the "send us $30 and we will design one for you" version). Unfortunately, there is no family tartan. E-mailing her sister on the sly, I was able to find out what part of Ireland the family came from.
What does all this have to do with Jonesing?? She mentioned that she was looking for a scarf to go with her red coat. I ordered a scarf from the Scottish Tartan Museum this morning in her county tartan. I know that M.A.C. and staff will work their magic and get it in the delivery system as soon as possible. I'm just hoping that I didn't wait too long if it's not in their current inventory. That's it. Just my own fault for not seeing this situation develop earlier. Been on my own for seven years and forgot how to read a woman's mind (if a man can ever really do that). If she is still around next year, I will start earlier.... like maybe in June for Christmas!!

I hope it all works out for you - the breakfast and the 'what-not'. It is one of my favourite meals, breakfast on Christmas morning - especially if there is a what-not on offer.

Just got the confirmation e-mail concerning my order. I can't blame anybody but myself.
The items you have requested are not currently in stock. Please allow approximately 2 to 4 weeks for delivery of your order.
It's gonna be close!! I just hope the Christmas fairies are kilt friendly!!

You are never too old for a what-not - a much undervalued piece of furniture! They are getting scarcer every year - invest in a good one now and your grand-children will be able to go to college.
Seriosly though, it is the 'aproximately' that worries me. Five weeks is aproximately four. Maybe a small back-up plan? Just in case.

Chas

If it's possible, the Museum will make it happen. If it's a few days late, tell her that it's an old custom to give gifts on January 6, which is true.

Back up plan is in place. Framed coat of arms in my possession as I type.
Got to get my mind out of the gutter. Googled "what not" and found that I have one hanging on my wall right over the computer.

Make sure you post pictures of the what-not when it happens. I've not seen any in a long time.
