Spirit of Scotland off of Ebay
I found an auction on Ebay last week, with the caption "Wool Dress Kilt Size 40-48", well this got my attention so I checked it out. Turned out to be a Spirit of Scotland Ancient kilt, no makers label, no size. The seller gave some basic measurements and some decent pictures. It looked to be a nice handmade kilt that might just fit me pretty good. So I bid on it and won it. I will be wearing it to the highland games this weekend, and hopefully get some pics of it on me.

Love the earth tones - you're a lucky man. Looking forward to the pictures.

That's gorgeous! What a great find. Us guys in larger sizes have to really keep our eyes out, but things do come up from time to time. I have three top-quality jackets in size 50 (tweed Argyll, black Argyll, Prince Charlie) all got off Ebay cheaply.

Pants is only a present tense verb here. I once panted, but it's all cool now.

Agreed, that's quite handsome! I can't say that I have ever seen that tartan in those colors before. I've only seen it in the very purple and blue, modern(?) colors. Nice find!

Just by chance I got some samples of both the Modern and the Ancient a few days ago, I think the Ancient one is lovely

Thanks everyone, I got lucky on this one.
Looking at the pictures, my camera has the colors off, here is one from the Ebay posting, which is closer to what it looks like. It is still muted but not as earthy. Getting a good pic that really shows what some of these tartans look like can be a real pain

Paulhenry, mine is more like the weathered.

Thanks Paulhenry. In doing some quick googling, I found that there is also the Ancient variant that the OP's kilt is reportedly done in. In looking at Lochcarron's site they don't have any of them listed in the strome weight, but did find it on the Scotweb site. Can you shed some light on what mill the tartan is from, and it's weight?
Thanks so much.

Both are in the same swatch book from Lochcarron and both in Strome weight
