Latest projects Garters and Sporran Chain

The Sporran Chain came out too long need to figure out how much to shorten it, other than that I am very pleased.

The garter is a 7 strand braid with 8 additional strands knotted on for volume.

The chain is a Byzantine weave, made with Stainless Steel and Bronze.

That chain is spectacular! My son makes chain maile, and I know how much work it is.

Nice work on the chainmail. After I finished my hauberk I put down that hobby. Be careful that the links don't catch on your kilt.
And I like the garters as well. Are they fairly simple to make?

Thank You Nighthawk, I've seen some of your work as well praise from a craftsman is always well received.

New Englander, it was dead easy, I just followed this instructable.

tip, keep your lengths slightly different and not too long to deal with if you try to do it without splicing in you will drive yourself nuts. To splice in just tie a very tight square knot and trim it close.
I cannot imagine doing a Hauberk

Thanks for the link! If we get the forecasted snow I'll be home tomorrow and now I have a project.

As for the hauberk, I had just moved and was living alone for a bit...so I had some time on my hands. Hands which were soon callused sore.

Another question for you, now that I've got about 18" of braid complete: about how long did you make your garters? My woven garter ties are 38" or so long and I wrap them around my leg twice before tying them. Do you do the same with these braided garters?
