Anyone know this kilt vendor in UK?

I found that they have a "Duke of Fife" tartan available, and actually pictured
    https://www.woollenmill.co.uk/acatal...e_of_Fife.html.
    .
Retails for 110 pounds + shipping for a 6 yard kilt.
I'm awaiting e-mail reply back from them for add'l details on this kilt.
    .
Any good or bad stories on this vendor?
    Thanks
    Steve

    Be Wary

They are on the Royal Mile, right in the heart of Gold Bros. territory. They are offering a GBP350-400 kilt for GBP110... if it sounds too good to be true...

I have very good experiences with The Woollen Mills. Actually it was after visiting this vendor that I got interested in kilt wearing. Very good customer service, I should say.
I have also bought a kilt from them. It could very well be identical to the one you describe, only that I many years ago paid £ 165 for it (Ramsay tartan).
It must be only recently that they sell kilts as cheap as £ 110, equalizing £ 129.25 to Europeans like me.
Now I really feel attempted to order another one from them. Why did I read this in the first place?
I certainly should avoid this forum…

One of the reasons for the price is that they are stock tartan kilts and "hand finished" i.e. largely machine sewn and have only a limited range.

Their 8 yard made to measure kilts are £240 + VAT which would be more the average.

I don't know of any Gold Bros places that far down the High St upon that side - Cockburn St is on the left going down and is below GT/21CK and past John Knox's House.

Like Greg I am tempted - I like the look of the MacMillan!

Thank you, we are a handsome race of men. If, however you were referring to the tartan described as Modern MacMillan or some such, you have been mis-led. It is not a MacMillan tartan. As Fedgunner has said, it is a kick *** tartan, but it most definitely isn't a MacMillan tartan.

I couldn't resist it. They are a reputable company and are definitely nothing to do with the Gold Bros. They have shops all over Scotland and also own Romanes & Paterson (which burnt down recently). They are not really mainstream highlandwear but do keep a limited amount, mainly for the tourist trade, but I would regard it as very acceptable quality. I got a pair of clan hose there a few years back for about £25.

This is what it looks like https://www.woollenmill.co.uk/acatal...MacMillan.html and yes it's a kick-*** tartan all right. I will have to try and find out more about the nomenclature.

I still like it or I wouldn't have ordered it but when asked by people seeing me wearing it I would like to give them an accurate answer.
