    Every man should have one...

Whenever I end up in a discussion about the kilt, I always seem to find myself saying, "...I really don't see why every man doesn't have at least one kilt in his wardorbe...". Think about it. So I'm starting an informal campaign to spread kilted consciousness amongst the great ranks of the un-kilted out there and I'm leading off with my top ten reasons why every guy should have at least one kilt on hand.

    10. Look at your wardrobe. You've got slacks, dress pants, cargo pants, jeans, shorts...perhaps even (shudder) capri pants*...why not a kilt?

    9. Versatility! You can dress 'em up or dress 'em down and you still look good.

    8. You'll never be at a loss for something to start a conversation about. You may get sick and tired of explaining why you don't have bagpipes with you at all times but try to live with the burden of that.

    7. Easy access.

    6. With so many tartans to choose from (not to mention contemporary kilts), you can certainly find some kind of connection to a clan no matter how tenuous it is..."...my third grade teacher was Mrs. MacDonald...".

    5. Clan/schman...the fact is that you don't even have to be of Scottish descent to wear a kilt anyway.

    4. You will really find out who your true friends are.

    3. A kilt can, now and then, score you a free pint/cocktail/shot at any well run gin mill you might happen to wander/crawl in to.

    2. When you do show back up at that bar at a later date and you are wearing pants, you may get to enjoy hearing a very attractive woman say, "Oh..it's you...I didn't recognize you with your pants on."

    1. Wearing a kilt is one of the most wonderful ways to feel good, feel self-confident and just have the best time that you can think of.

    Pass the word.

*Some people are trying to pass men's capri pants off as "climbing pants" or "hiking pants"...get real...they're capri pants...nice try.

This is a good idea! I will pass this along. I can think of a few people that are "on the bubble".

    This made my Monday!

I would have a hard time limiting myself to one kilt.

My only problem is that all of the "off the peg" kilts are too short, (I'm 195 cm tall) and my income has taken a nose dive. So I'll be grateful to have one "tank" on hand.

One kilt is never enough - guess they are afraid of the addiction!

Back in the 1950's when these first made an appearance on the scene, they were called "clam diggers", which didn't alter the fact that they were really capris with the zip moved around to the front.

I would alter a few entries to be a bit more humorous and to make the language a bit more generic, as indicated below:

I've just started my own email chain with the modified version, thanks for the inspiration!

    8. You'll always have at least 3 girls/women hanging around you at parties. You may get sick and tired of letting them check what's under the kilt, but man up and try to live with that burden.
