my new kilt
I just finished making my new kilt (second time I have ever made a garment).
It fits nicely and is comfy but i think it looks a little odd. here are some pics:
sorry they are so fuzzy all I had was my phone camera (Ill try to take some better pictures soon).
I will put some belt loops on but I wanted to just try it on since I got to a point where I could
This was my second attempt at a kilt so please respond with any tips on how to make my next kilt (or this one) better.

If you would like to take a look in our FAQ's we have a tutorial on how to post pics in your posts.
To read part one of the tutorial click here.
To take a look at part two which has an alternate method click here.

For a second kilt I think you did a fine job. Well done! Give that bad boy a good steam/press and wear it proudly.
You mention that you think it looks a little odd. I think it might be that really wide waistband. To my eye it kinda interrupts the shape of the kilt. I tried heavy waistbands like that a few times and didn't have very good luck with fit either. Maybe for your next one try going narrower, like 1.5" or so. Did your waist measurement end up a bit small? It looks like it's pulling a bit in the front photo, though maybe the apron just needs to be smoothed down.
Have you started planning the next one? Every kilt you make gets better. Keep at it!

I also think the waistband looks a bit wide and it needs a pressing. Maybe with belt loops and a belt the look will even out. Dang good job for your second sewing attenpt! I'm working up to trying to make one!

I agree that the waist band looks a little big.

It actually feels a little big on me (just about perfect with a belt) but the aprons don't drop strait the under apron starts at about my hip when and the bottom corner hangs at about the inside of my knee. if you look at the front picture you can see the corner of the under apron hanging out. I think this is also what is causing the pull in the fount.
I'm not sure if this is normal, I'm wearing it wrong or I stitched it wrong.
