Down here in South Dorset it may be a bit warmer. For the past month I have been wearing a plain a plain tweed Argyle jacket with a white sports shirt and tee shirt.

When it gets a bit cold I wear a rust coloured reversible fishermans Guernesy from the Channel Islands.
When it gets colder still or looks like rain I wear a Quilted Anorak
When it gets colder still I wear my dark blue winter overcoat.
I have experimented with wearing a design of garment which, in a in a lady's wordrobe, would be called a pettycoat.
The garment could also be called the bottom half of a gillies shirt.
Records show that in really cold winter campains the WWI kilted Highland regiments were issued with White WRAC Style ladies draws to beat the cold.
I understand the troops felt no shame in wearing this type of garment as it was kit on issue and their sole aim was not to die from the cold.
Garment rather like a Roman Centurians Breccie (?) short baggy breaches.

One thing I have never clarified is; Were the Highland regiments issued with Standard Army Long Great Coats ? I believe rolled greatcoats were normally worn across the top of the back pack.

To clarify my initial theme, The Argyle jacket is possibly as warm as a sweater and has pockets for wallet and spectacles. keys are usually hung on my kilt belt.
The jacket can be buttoned, unbuttoned,or worn over over the shoulders.
The jacket was always worn on the farms when I was kid. Good heavy wearing garment, like my thirty five year old kilt. Roddy

Kilted at movies is so comfortable. It's cozy and keeps away the chill of the ever cranked AC movie theatres tend to have.

Note that there is no sporran whereas I use the folds of the kilt as pockets.
As a casual outfit, I quite like it.

So far, it seems the more informal tshirt and kilt combo is best, although not got any decent pics of me in my nice traditional Kilt Jacket I got made via Jake's (green scots mist tweed I think it's called...)

Why is it, whenever I get dolled up the people who are always click-click-click-in-your-face are never to be seen? And then on other occasions when you look less than great, then they turn up with cameras in tow? Hmmph. Anyway - posted this before, shades and top hat optional ;-)

Also mentioned elsewhere about leather...leather vest, works really well. Someone here posted a pic of them in what seemed to be a leather kilt jacket...biker jackets and kilts, that's a really good idea...always wanted a leather jacket ;-)

Thanks. It is defiantly casual. I like to go walking in it. It's nice to know I have something to wear like a cloak if a sudden rain turns up.
Oh and Fingertrouble, I like the hat. I used to have one just about identical to it when I did Victorian reenactment more frequently than I do now.
