I love to see kilts that fit well!

I personally feel that a man who is willing to wear a kilt, especially outside of a festival has to be pretty sure of himself. The main man in my life who goes about kilted is my son, and he is 11. I love the fact that when his 5th grade class went to the symphony on a field trip and were told to wear "best dress" he immediately went for his kilt and vest.
He said only one kid razzed him saying "Hey, skirt boy! When are you going to tap dance?" To which my son replied "As soon as you learn the difference between a skirt and a kilt! When you wear one of these, you dance around swords."

I like to watch a man walk with a well made kilt on and enjoy the "sway" of the pleats.
I dislike seeing kilts shoved down under bellies and riding high in the back because of it.

Calves - nice looking calves on a man are my kryptonite, I'm totally undone by them. In a hose or not, its all good (though I think of chunky wool hose as the 'wonder bra' for men- false advertising! ;) ) Men is shorts do not have as much affect oddly enough.

But some other ladies have hit the nail on the head- confidence.

What is not to like? Well, I get miffed at 'ren-fair shirts' with the puffy sleeves and the drawstring neck. No thank you. I like the casual look, formal is beautiful but a tad intimidating, but no puffy pirate shirts, please.

I find the kilt attractive mainly because of the romantic associations but also because my own husband looks good in one.

I find it less attractive with a large beer belly hanging over it but still slightly better than the same belly hanging over the waistband of a pair of trousers.

James Hood, I think a lot of men look terrific in kilts..it shows off their legs a plus big time .I also think it's very masculine..My husband is gonna try a kilt on soon..It should be the correct length though. Mrs. Angela Bodine ( Im a member here )

I think a well-fitted kilt looks good on men of many shapes and sizes, provided the length is not too long or too short. As a Scottish country dancer, I love the sway and twirl particularly if the gentleman has nice legs. -- Nan

I like the individuality. My husband has an eccentric mode of dress and I love it. It's one of the things that got me interested in him. I wish he could wear his reenactment clothes all of the time. But since this isn't practical because of his profession and his straight eight's requirements, the kilt is a nice middle ground. I think men look best in smart doublets with ruffles. I like it best when mine's more on the historical side and I love the ren-fair look and great kilt.

I don't like the tartan dipped look. And to be honest, I hate his red and white diced hose and anything too modern.

What, as a lady, do you find attractive, interesting or minmally, "acceptable" about a man wearing a kilt?

What, as a lady, do you find unattractive, "unacceptable" or even disgusting about a man wearing a kilt?

What I find attractive is that most men who wear kilts are dressed in a tidy manor. I also enjoy the individuality of men's personal way of wearing the kilt. Seeing knees is also nice.

What I find unattractive is the kilt worn slung under bellies which makes the hemline uneven, and worn to low so that it looks like a midi skirt. I also dislike when men look sloppy or dirty (unless they are actively working).

I am afraid that I can only look at men dressed in kilts(civilians) outwith Scotland and particularly non tartan kilts, with mild amusement tinged with sadness.

Then, Mrs. Jock, do feel welcome to look at me, being a civilian, a non-Scot, a man not living in Scotland, and sometimes also wearing non tartan kilts the way you describe.

I am quite sure should I see you, Greg, wandering around town wearing the kilt that I will not single you out for making an exception to how I think.

I hope, my thoughts do not show though! But, should you care to ask me face to face the question that was asked here, my reply will be much the same as the one I gave here. It would be dishonest to do otherwise.
