Also wondering about the leather.

This is Lochcarron's 16 oz Strome weight tartan. The straps are black and buckles are silver, even though you can't see them.

Thanks!
It (the Highland Granite) is very gray, very neutral. Looks smashing with a PC jacket. If you want a swatch, PM me your mailing address, and I'll stick a scrap into the mail to you.

Thanks for that clarification Jim,
In the pic in Ham's garden, the close up of the pleats, the leather sure comes out brown on my monitor, but staring at it can see how it could be black if the light hit at a shallow angle.
Light and electronics are still at odds.
And thanks too Barb. I like the more weathered look of the Lochcarron Strome....very very elegant.

Funny thing - my Isle of Skye is also 16oz Strome from Lochcarron.
Light and electronics indeed Ron - go figure!

Thanks Phil,
I'm sold, told Kathy Lare to go ahead and order me up one in the Locharron 16 oz Strome.
Oughta make my ancestors happy and me proud. Skye has obviously been a big thing in my family over the generations. First settlement in Nova Scotia was Skye Glen near Skye Mountain. My father named his California ranchette Skye Ranch and one of his Great Danes was named Skye. Guess a kilt in the Skye tartan would be fitting for my generation.

It's amazing what a mixture of scotch and valium will do to calm the jones....sometime I might try it (drooling and twitching in anticipation).
I plan to wear this one to work on St. Andrews day! I am so psyched, not least because of how psyched the kiltmaker is about it. Original thanks to Phil Corlis' kiltmaker for pioneering(?) the stripeless stripe pleat (would that be pleating to the bar?)
Barb has been a dream to work with. We must have exchange 30 emails for one reason or another to ensure everything comes out right. Sure hope it fits!
Ron - I'd have ordered it anyway, but it makes it more special to find that I have 5th, 6th, and 7th great-grandfathers (McIvers) who are from the Parish of Sleat, Isle of Skye starting in 1697. I know Kathy Lare will do a bang-up job on yours.

Very Cool about your McIvers at the other end of the island Turp.
And nope, Bradley, Kathy's not done with the RAF kilt yet but working with such a craftsperson its cool to plan ahead.
And the financial secret is I got divorced a long time ago so just me to buy for and support...okay, me and the cat....The lovely red haired maiden I'm dating makes more money than me so insists on paying for a lot of our adventures. Kilts and a lovely lady...life is good.
And, don't know how anyone could turn down the beauty of that tartan once they've seen it in a completed kilt, particularly when their blood is from Skye.
So much difference between a swatch and a photo of a kilt. Thanks Phil, Jim, and Barb for the pic posts.
