beards go with everything, but I may be biased because every single adult male in my entire family has one.

I grew my beard when I was about 24. When I was in my early 30's I cut it off. Everybody & their brother told me I looked so much better without the beard . ... So I grew it back This is my way of telling the world to mind it's own business

I think that's definitely been true in the public arena, but I think it's unfair. My father and all the males on his side of the family have some facial hair and most have full beards. So I grew up thinking the beard was the norm.

As for beards and kilts, they just look really, really good together. At least that's what I'm told

Beards do look good with kilts. Especially on "fuller" men.

I don't have a beard, for a few reasons. First, I have a cleft chin, and no hair grows in the cleft. A beard would look pretty funny with a "crack" in it. Second, My wife will not kiss me if I don't shave. Third, I'm a skinhead. Part of the "traditional" skinhead image is being clean-cut. So, no beard.

But, I do have mutton chops. Big, manly mutton chops. Chops are very "scottish," they are very "skinhead," and my wife likes them. And they look absolutely brilliant with a kilt, a flat cap, and a pipe... three of my standard accessories.

I've been clean-shaven once in the last 2 years, and that was due to a mishap with the clippers. I was only chop-less for about a week.

It does seem that kilts and facial hair in whatever form go hand in hand.

Ok, so like you got your long beard and your long hair on your head, and all of it is down to your knees or so. I guess the next thing is to put it all into barbairian braids or something strange like that. Weren't the heavy metal guys tieing a knot in their beards for a while?

I'm not an old guy, but i'm 3 for 3 on that one... gold hoops in both ears, goatee, larger sideburns.

    Its called Designer Stubble..

The fact that its all red really adds to that celtic feel (since people have always asked me if I was Scottish, despite the fact that I resemble a leprechaun). Have had my goatee for 12 years now... only shaved it off 3 times in that period... once I see how much of a baby face (and a double chin) I have, I grow it back immediately.

Although, now that i'm on vacation for the holidays... i've got a full beard as I haven't shaved in over a week (redbeard the pirate, anyone?).

    Don't have to shave!
    Win! Win!
