I know lots of folks have replied in the affirmative, but I felt the need to still put in my two cents.
As a current member of the US Army, and veteran of two tours in Iraq (total of 22 months) I would be deeply honored if you were to wear a military kilt in memory not only of your military ancestors, but of those who have fought and died to give you the right to wear what you want.
Personally, before I got my first kilt (ACU pattern Sport Kilt), I used to wear a fly plaid in my family tartan to the highland games. On the fly plaid, I wear my service ribbons from Iraq, my father's ribbons from Vietnam, my father-in-laws ribbons from Korea, and my grandfather's ribbons from WWII.
So wearing these items as long as it's understood they are in memorial, with me as a veteran is ok.
