My opinion is worth exactly what you payed for it.
I agree, weddings and funerals are tie occasion. My saying is no tie, unless someone is getting married or buried. However this being Alaska, and the very casual dress that is acceptable here I feel the sweater will be quite appropriate. If this wedding was in the Lower-48 I would definitely be wearing a tie. And the shirt and tie would look great I belive.
