Just arrived in Maui for my first visit to Hawaii. Very beautiful with hot muggy weather much like Ohio.

Flew out of San Diego. Wore my USA Kilts U.S. Navy tartan semi-trad. Vest in lieu of sporran.

At TSA took off my vest and ran it though...the usual proceedures except no one in front of me was taking their laptops out of their case...so I thought, gee, I don't need to do that. Wound up getting a stern "lecture" from some tiny little thing about "next time" take it out. Go figure, can't win.

Of course the three buckles on the kilt set off the beeper thing. First they said, "Those buckles don't come off do they?" Good kilt knowledge. Then they wanded the buckles but them asked me to go a ways off to stand on some footprints. I wasn't happy about the distance from my stuff but fortunately my lady was with me and she watched my stuff.

It was the usual arms up wanding, but then they have a new "dance" sorta like the Hokey Pokey. You put your left foot out and they wand you, then you put your right foot out and they wand you. Then you put your left foot back and they wand you, then your right foot back then they wand you. Then...back to the original arms up and they pat you down.

It all seemed to be a polite way to keep from having to stick the wand under the kilt....Just stayed relaxed and flowed with it.

With the current "sardine seats" found it hard to get the pleats arranged when falling down into the seat - the only way to mount them. Sure could have used one of the panic bars like they put in vehicles.

Brought a Macabi skirt for beach wear. Considering that without the pleats to hassle with it may be more comfy for the trip home. We'll see.

Not one single comment about the kilt or wearing a kilt...some "looks" but that's expected.

Anyhow. Here in Maui now...hot, tired, and ready for a snooze. Hope to hit Mulligans soon. Kilted of course.

And yes, I should be on vacation but I'm so dang proud of tinkering with the wi-fi set up here I just had to take it for a flight.
