Here's a jacket I just finished converting. I won't post many project details, because that ground's been covered better in other threads. Instead, I'm posting this to serve as inspiration to anyone who's thought of doing a jacket but decided not to for lack of sewing experience. My only sewing experience before this project was cutting a pocket out of an old pair of jeans and sewing it into my messenger bag to have a place to put my ipod. For this project I just took advice from the conversion threads already posted, basted everything before I stitched it for real, and used a fair dose of "I wonder if this will work?"

It's far from perfect, but I think it came out pretty well for a jacked that cost 6 quid (I saved some children by buying it, too). I'm going to go in through the pockets (which are still functional) and cut out the excess fabric inside, you can see in some of the pics that it's a bit lumpy when viewed from the inside.

So there you go, a dose of encouragement to those of you thinking of doing it yourself!
