I hope I misunderstood the sarcasm and it was not directed in a mean way. I never said, "look more american less scottish". Placing that in the quote area of the post is dishonest. I'm not mad, just saying.
I merely suggested a slighty less "dressy" option that would help ease folks into the idea of him in a kilt. The full white hose, bonnet, and argyll jacket approach is just too much for some people's initial introduction and it reminds them of cliches and pipe bands though we know better. After a little bit he can introduce other items into daily wear and as they are slowly added around the wife she may have more of a chance to get used to it. That was all I was getting at. Worked for me, just a suggestion.
